DEER CHASER
"Native American-Lakota Dance Troupe"

Executive Producer: Marvin Clifford, Sr.
Producers: Wesley New Holy
                  Chuck Wilcox
                  Rose Clifford

THE PERFORMERS

consist of renowned singers and dancers from various bands of the Lakota Nation located in South Dakota. The nature of the program is both contemporary and historical, featuring specialty dances inspired by ancient legends, traditions and philosophies. The balance of the "old and new" vividly illustrates the spirit of 20th century Native America. As each dancer performs, a narrator will guide the audience through the program to enhance their enjoyment and understanding by interpreting the meaning of the songs and explaining their movements and costumes.

Education is the key to the future of our young people and society at large. We are all very concerned with what is happening in our communities and beyond. DEER CHASER would like to take a positive step to counteract the stereotype image of Native Americans, by bringing to the people an accurate depiction thru song and dance.

In a dramatic new step to raise an awareness of the beauty, grace and splendor of Native American peoples of the Lakota Nation, DEER CHASER is providing a unique opportunity for people to be graciously transposed to another time and culture.

To honor the legacy of our ancestors we extend to each and everyone a kind and hearty invitation to our performance. We hope to make everyone feel welcome, appreciated and enlightened. DEER CHASER performers will take back to their people the blessings of the hope for a better future that all of society is yearning for.
